Training programs for the efficient use of resources and clearner production

Cape Verde will implement the Program for the Efficient Use of Resources and Cleaner Production (RECP), a joint initiative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

This common global program running in more than 47 countries, has been implemented in Cape Verde in partnership with the Government, through its offices specialized in environmental issues. This program is integrated into the One Programme of Cape Verde, contained in subprogram 5, that is dedicated to Environment, Energy, Prevention and Disaster Response. It aims to promote sustainable industrial development; acting on the efficient use of resources and cleaner production, and applying methods, practices and its own policies.

The UNIDO/UNEP, with the logistic support from the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Services of Barlavento (CCIASB), and under the orientation of a brazilian specialist, the chemical engineer Mrs. Rosele Witle, is organizing from 13th to 16th, a training program on the PmaisL (Cleaner Production), involving managers and industrial entrepreneurs, technicians connected to the industry, and consultants from the Barlavento's islands. This training program will concluded with a workshop about the topic on September 17.

The main advantages of this training program include the following:

For industrial enterprises:
- Know the advantages of the PmaisL program in terms of economic resources, environmental impact and competitiveness gains;
- Know (and apply) tools that support technically and financially the development of specific projects for adequacy of industries in terms of the RECP.

For consultants:
- Perfect their knowledge of the methodology of PmaisL;
- Develop specific skills that will promote their selection as consultants (to be restricted to national level) of the RECP Program.
